Because the Olympics is topical…

by

A couple claims that stuck out to me in this Badger Herald opinion column:

“Without a doubt, most of the events in the winter games are highly anticipated and have a strong fan following.”

Not really. The Olympics is really just an odd event that, because of nationalism, gets people excited about sports they otherwise wouldn’t care about (and that increasingly includes hockey).

“However, there are the games that are, well, a little less well known. Did you know that an official Olympic sport combines cross country skiing and rifle shooting?”

Yes. Doesn’t everybody?

I have not watched a lick of the Olympics except for some taped stuff online just before I fell asleep one night.
BUT my pals in Toastmasters are really into it, and my Hoofers friends on facebook are watching this stuff like hawks.

Whoever wrote that article is a silly person.
