Shout Out love for the Sconz

by

Speaking of procrastination techniques, a friend of mine alerted me to something in the “Shout Outs” section of the Badger Herald:

SO to jack craver. i always fall in love with you when i read your opinion columns. then i look at your picture and fall in love all over again.

Frankly, I’m surprised. I always thought my Herald picture added a little extra weight to my face.

Nevertheless, I do have my suspicions. The front-runner would probably be Eric Schmidt, editor of the Opinion Page. He wants to thank me for writing a column at the last second at his request, and figures that the notion of a secret admirer will get me to dedicate even more time and energy to the paper.

My second guess would probably be Sam Clegg, former editor of the Opinion Page. Sam is in France with nothing to do and figured he’d share what he’s been spending all of his time doing: reading my columns.

I would guess my girlfriend but I know she wouldn’t be able to keep a straight face for more than a few seconds if it were her.

Either way, I am a tad bit disappointed my secret admirer didn’t plug the Sconz. If he/she is so in love with me, why wouldn’t he/she check out the site listed at the bottom of all the articles?

In conclusion, secret admiration is a breath of fresh air after all the semi-death threats I got after the notorious football article. Even having a stalker who is in love with my picture is exponentially better than having one who thinks it should be used as a “hit bag” to motivate football players (as proposed by one lunatic who added me on facebook).
