140,000 jobs lost so far in Wisconsin

The Sconz has been hit hard by the recession.

The Capital Times notes that construction and manufacturing have been particularly affected. Construction should remind us of course of the infrastructure potential coming with the federal stimulus plan and the influence of the state congressional delegation. Manufacturing is much tougher (practically impossible) to replace, despite the hopes that the Janesville and Kenosha workers at GM will luck out and will get back their jobs when the company opens up a new line of smaller cars.

Seems to me that there are plenty of construction jobs in Madison. They closed every fucking street this summer. Stimulus is being spent, my friends. The University Ave construction is the best. They basically decided to smash up a perfectly good road and create what I imagine will be a dirtier version of what was there before.
